About this directory

wordlelike.net is an independent catalogue of 44 Wordle alternatives, variants, spinoffs and clones. It is not The New York Times, Merriam-Webster, Spotify, or any of the game authors.

What we check

• Game URLs with HTTP requests and, for embeds, a real Chromium iframe test (25 August 2026). A 200 response alone is not treated as proof that a playable game exists.
• Wikipedia and primary announcements for Wordle, Quordle, Nerdle, Semantle, Worldle, The Password Game.
• top.gg listings for Discord bots. We do not invent slash commands we have not run.
• GitHub repositories whose links resolved during the dated check. Repository status, stars, and licenses can change.

What we do not do

• We do not publish today’s answers. Mashable, CNET and the official games already do that.
• We do not host solvers.
• We do not invent play counts, revenue, or “best of” scores.
• We do not embed sites that send X-Frame-Options / CSP frame-ancestors, or that white-screen via JavaScript (Nerdle).
• We do not call a community mirror, aggregator, or parked domain an official game.

Clones and copyright

Under U.S. copyright law, copyright does not protect the idea for a game, its name or title, or the methods of playing it; it can protect original literary or pictorial expression such as source code, artwork, and the wording of rules (U.S. Copyright Office, Copyright Registration of Games; 17 U.S.C. § 102(b)). Independently built Wordle-like games that reuse the familiar limited-guess, color-feedback mechanic are therefore generally not copyright infringement of Wordle as a game idea, but copying The New York Times’s code, graphics, puzzle text, or other expressive material can still be infringement, and the WORDLE name remains a trademark the Times can enforce against confusing uses.
